Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of the oldest of its kind in India, is a historically significant attraction located in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. Established in 1857 by the Maharaja of Travancore, Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, it spans across 55 acres of well-maintained woodland, lakes, and lawns. Designed by Mr. George, the landscapes are inspired by the London Zoo. The zoo aims to promote wildlife conservation, especially for endangered species. Visitors can explore diverse ecosystems that host a wide array of animals ranging from big cats, such as the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Indian Lion, to reptiles and vibrant birds. The reptile house is notable for its unique collection, including the King Cobra and python. Featuring a botanical garden, it is a haven for plant enthusiasts, with an impressive variety of tropical trees, and an orchid house. The museum complex within the premises displays Napier artifacts and natural history pieces. Its dedication to conservation, education, and recreation makes it a vital asset in environmental preservation and an engaging experience for visitors.

Nice place to visit in Trivandrum!
The Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is a nice spot to visit while in Thiruvananthapuram! You can take a small electric car around. The drivers are knowledgeable about the zoo and pointed out all of the animals..
