Nishat Bagh, known as the 'Garden of Bliss,' is situated on the eastern side of the Dal Lake with the Zabarwan Mountains as its backdrop. This terraced Mughal garden was designed and built in 1633 by Asif Khan, elder brother of Nur Jehan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jahangir. Covering approximately 46 acres, Nishat Bagh displays the Persian style of architecture and is the second-largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley after Shalimar Bagh. It consists of 12 terraces, representing the 12 Zodiac signs, descending from the top, and each level has its own unique beauty, adorned with a variety of flowers, chinar trees, and fountains. Nishat Bagh provides a stunning, panoramic view of the Dal Lake along with the Pir Panjal mountain range.
