Dachigam National Park, spanning an area of 141 km², is located in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India, approximately 22 kilometers from the city of Srinagar. This park is renowned for its unique and diverse flora and fauna, which includes the endangered Hangul or Kashmiri stag. It is divided into two sectors, the Upper and Lower Dachigam, both offering a different but equally mesmerizing experience. The terrain consists of sharp rocky outcrops, steep slopes, and lush green meadows along with scattered patches of coniferous forests. This diverse habitat supports a variety of wildlife including Himalayan black bear, leopard, musk deer, and a remarkable array of birdlife. The park is also home to several alpine species, courtesy of its varying altitude, which ranges from 5500 ft to 14000 ft above sea level. The park's rivers and rivulets are fed by melting snow and provide a vital water source for the region's wildlife.
