Situated in Kozhikode (Calicut) within the Indian state of Kerala, the Pazhassi Raja Archaeological Museum is named after the renowned Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, a warrior prince and one of the earliest freedom fighters against British colonialism. Housed in a colonial-era bungalow named East Hill Bungalow, the museum is under the Archaeological Department of Kerala. It showcases a range of historical and cultural artifacts that allow visitors an insight into the rich archaeological heritage of the region. The exhibits include ancient murals, antique bronzes, historical coins, models of megalithic monuments like dolmens and menhirs, and stone sculptures dating back to the medieval period. The museum complex also includes an art gallery, the Krishna Menon Museum, dedicated to the life and times of Indian leader V. K. Krishna Menon. This museum and gallery collectively provide a narrative of local history from ancient to modern times, encapsulating the socio-cultural evolution of the area.
