Valayanad Devi Temple is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi, located in Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala, India. This temple is one of the 108 Durga temples created by Parasurama, a mythological sage and one of the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. It holds great historical and cultural significance in the region. The presiding deity here is Goddess Bhadrakali, considered to be an incarnation of Shakti. The idol faces north and is said to have self-manifested (swayambhoo). The temple showcases traditional Kerala-style architecture with a copper-covered roof, wooden sculptures, and an imposing gopuram. The walls and pillars are adorned with murals and carvings that highlight mythological tales. It is a spiritual center for the locals and offers a tranquil environment for visitors. The temple conducts various rituals and cultural programs, especially during the festival of Navratri, drawing devotees from across the state and beyond.
