Sanchi Stupa, designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is one of India's most important ancient monuments. Stupa number 3, specifically, is positioned within the complex of stupas at Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh. This structure, though smaller than the Great Stupa (Stupa number 1), is significant for its historical and architectural value. The Stupa is a dome-shaped monument and serves as a Buddhist shrine. Stupa number 3 stands as a testament to the Buddhist philosophy and the art of the Mauryan period, having been constructed in the 2nd century BCE. Its main features include a circular vedika, which encloses the stupa, and an umbrella-like structure crowning the dome, representing high status. The harmonic proportions and intricate carvings exemplify the skill of ancient craftsmen. The location is well-maintained, surrounded by lush green lawns, offering visitors a serene environment and a glimpse into India's rich Buddhist history.

Stupa No. 3
The Sanchi Stupa No. 3 is the smallest amongst all the three Stupas at Sanchi. The Torana to this Stupa has exquisite carvings depicting scenes from Buddha's life. A beautiful monument to visit.
