Semmozhi Poonga Tourism

Semmozhi Poonga is a botanical garden in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, spanning 20 acres of lush greenery in the heart of the city. Opened in 2010, it was established by the Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The garden boasts of well-manicured lawns, scenic landscapes, and over 500 species of plants. These include medicinal herbs, aromatic herbs, bonsai varieties, and many exotic flora sourced both from within the country and from overseas. The park includes several themed sections, such as the butterfly garden, fern garden, rock garden, and an area showcasing plants from the Tamil literature classics. There is also an artificial duck pond along with a variety of other water bodies. Semmozhi Poonga serves both as a tranquil retreat for nature lovers and a learning center for students and botany enthusiasts. The well-paved walkways, charming pergolas, and water features contribute to an inviting environment for visitors who seek a respite from the bustling city life.
