Shesh Shaiya is a significant historical site within the Bandhavgarh National Park boundaries in Madhya Pradesh, India. This site features an ancient 35-foot-long statue of Lord Vishnu in a reclining pose, known as 'Sheshshaiya,' depicting the God resting on the seven-hooded serpent, Sheshnag. The statue, purportedly over a thousand years old, is strategically located at the source of the Charanganga River, lending the area a serene and spiritual ambiance. The Bandhavgarh National Park, once hunting grounds for the Maharajas of Rewa, is now a renowned tiger reserve and biodiversity hotspot. Shesh Shaiya serves as a starting point for many jungle safaris in the reserve, offering visitors a blend of natural beauty, wildlife experiences, and a glimpse into the park's historical and mythological past. The dense forest surrounding the statue is teeming with flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, deer, and various bird species, making it an ideal stop for nature lovers and spiritual seekers alike.
