How to Reach Sigiriya Museum

By Air

If you are traveling by air, the closest airport to Sigiriya Museum is the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. From there, you can take a domestic flight to the nearest local airport, which is Sigiriya Airport, and then hire a taxi to get to the museum.

By Road

The most common way to reach the Sigiriya Museum is by road:

  • Private Car/Taxi: Hire a private taxi or car from any part of Sri Lanka. Expect a drive of approximately four hours from Colombo.
  • Bus: Board a bus heading towards Dambulla from Colombo and then switch to a bus that goes to Sigiriya town. From there, rickshaws or local taxis can take you to the museum.
  • Rental Vehicle: You could also rent a vehicle and drive yourself; the museum has parking facilities.

By Train

There is no direct train service to Sigiriya. You may travel by train to the nearest station in Habarana or Dambulla and then catch a bus or taxi to Sigiriya Museum.
