Best Time To Visit Surwal Lake (Sawai Madhopur) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Surwal Lake, Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan

Surwal Lake is a picturesque seasonal lake located near Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, India. A haven for bird watchers and nature lovers, the lake is best visited during the winter months, specifically from November to March. During this period, the weather is pleasantly cool and is ideal for spending time outdoors. This is also the time when migratory birds make Surwal Lake their home, offering visitors a chance to spot a variety of avian species. Mornings are particularly magical, as the rising sun casts a golden glow over the tranquil waters, and the birds begin their daily symphony.

In contrast, the summer months from April to June can be extremely hot in Rajasthan, with temperatures soaring above 40°C, making outdoor activities challenging. The monsoon season, from July to September, revives the countryside with lush greenery; however, the lake level rises, and the region can become quite marshy and less accessible. Thus, for the most enjoyable experience, aim for the cooler months when the lake is full, the birds are in residence, and the temperatures are conducive to exploration and photography. Remember that Surwal Lake may dry up towards the end of the dry season, so early winter is the optimal time for a visit.
