The Capitol Complex in Chandigarh, Punjab, India, is an architectural masterpiece designed by the esteemed Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. This government compound covers an area of around 100 acres and stands as a testament to modernist architecture. It is the epicenter of Chandigarh’s legislative and bureaucratic activities, encompassing three main buildings: the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Secretariat, and the Legislative Assembly. These buildings are remarkable for their geometric forms and innovative use of concrete. In addition to these structures, the complex also features the Open Hand Monument, which symbolizes peace and unity – a recurring theme throughout Chandigarh. Colossal yet intricately designed, the Capitol Complex was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in July 2016, as part of the group of 17 sites known as 'The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier'.
