The Rock Garden of Chandigarh is a unique garden that is widely acclaimed for its innovative design and splendor. Situated near Sukhna Lake, it was secretly created by Nek Chand, a government official who started the garden secretly in his spare time in 1957. The garden consists of man-made interlinked waterfalls and many other sculptures that are made of scrap and other kinds of wastes like bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks, electrical waste, etc. The Rock Garden is spread over an area of about 40 acres and is divided into three phases. Each phase has a different type of installation crafted from various discarded materials. The garden is a statement on the potential transformation of waste materials into art, proving that creativity can indeed turn unutilized objects into wonders. It's a testament to human ingenuity and sits as a silent protest against waste. Today, it's one of the most famous sights in Chandigarh and is visited by thousands from across the globe.
