Triveni Sangam in Allahabad, now known as Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India is a sacred confluence of three rivers: the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. It is considered one of the holiest places in Hinduism. According to Hindu tradition, a bath at the Sangam cleanses sins and frees one from the cycle of rebirth. The site is also famous for hosting the Kumbh Mela every 12 years, attracting millions of pilgrims from around the world. The point of convergence is marked by a tree flanked by temples and ghats. Pilgrims perform rituals and take holy dips, particularly during auspicious dates. Boats are available to take visitors to the actual point of confluence. The area becomes a hub of religious activity during the annual Magh Mela. The confluence is observable as the waters of the Ganga and the Yamuna can be distinguished by their different colors.
