Best Time to Visit Triveni Sangam Allahabad (Prayagraj)

Triveni Sangam in Allahabad, recently renamed Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, is a sacred confluence of three rivers - the Ganges (Ganga), Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. The best time to visit this spiritual destination is during the cooler, drier months from October to March. During this period, the climate is pleasant, with minimal rainfall, making it conducive for taking a holy dip in the Sangam and participating in ritual activities. The water levels in the rivers are also relatively stable, which is ideal for boat rides to the exact confluence point. Visitors will find this season comfortable for exploring the nearby religious sites and historical monuments as well.

Additionally, a significant time to visit Triveni Sangam is during the auspicious Kumbh Mela, which takes place every twelve years, and the Ardh Kumbh Mela that occurs every six years. The Magh Mela is an annual event which also gathers a lot of pilgrims, held in the month of January and February. During these festivals, millions of devotees flock to Prayagraj to partake in the mass bathing rituals, believed to cleanse sins and aid in attaining salvation. For a truly immersive experience in the cultural and spiritual fervor of Prayagraj, planning your trip around these melas can be incredibly rewarding. However, it's important to book accommodations well in advance, as the city gets extremely crowded during these times.
