How to Reach Trongsa

By Air
Bhutan's international gateway is Paro Airport. Due to its central location, Trongsa is accessible from this airport:
- Book a flight to Paro, Bhutan with Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines, the only airlines that operate international flights to and from Bhutan.
- Trongsa is approximately 129 kilometers from Paro and can take about 4-5 hours by road.
By Road
Once you have landed in Paro, you can either rent a car, book a taxi, or use the services of a travel agency to get to Trongsa:
- The journey will take you through stunning mountainous landscapes and you will have the chance to stop at various viewpoints and attractions along the way.
- Public buses are also available from Thimphu, the capital city, to Trongsa. However, it is less comfortable, and the schedules can be irregular.
Travel Tips
- Be prepared for winding roads and possible delays due to weather conditions, especially during the monsoon season.
- Ensure you have all necessary permits arranged beforehand, as all international tourists (except for Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian passport holders) require a visa to enter Bhutan, along with a travel plan prepared by a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or one of their international partners.

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Trongsa is from October to December, when the skies are clear, and you can enjoy majestic views of the Himalayas. Another good time is in the spring, from March to May.
