Located in the northern part of Kerala, Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers alike. The sanctuary, spreading over 55 square kilometers, is home to a myriad of flora and fauna and offers visitors the opportunity to experience the biodiversity of the Western Ghats. The best time to visit Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is during the post-monsoon and winter months, from October to May. This period offers pleasant weather conditions which are ideal for wildlife spotting and trekking through the sanctuary's diverse landscapes.
During these months, the retreat of the monsoon leaves behind a lush green cover, and the rivers and streams within the sanctuary are full, creating a picturesque setting for sightseeing. The temperature ranges from a comfortable 15°C to 20°C. Sightings of animals such as the Malabar giant squirrel, elephants, and various species of birds are more frequent, as the cooler climate draws them out into the open. In contrast, the monsoon season, from June to September, is less ideal for visits due to the heavy rainfall, which can cause disruptions in accessibility and may limit wildlife visibility due to the dense undergrowth.
