How To Reach Asan

By Air:

To reach Asan from abroad, you would first fly into Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, which is the only international airport in Nepal. From TIA, Asan is approximately 6 kilometers away.

From Tribhuvan International Airport to Asan:

• Taxi: The quickest way to reach Asan is by taxi. Upon exiting the airport, you'll find a pre-paid taxi stand or you can negotiate a fare with local taxi drivers. The trip usually takes about 25-30 minutes depending on traffic.
• Public Bus: If you're looking for a more economical option, you can take a local bus. Bus services may not be as convenient and will take longer than a taxi due to multiple stops. You'll have to walk to the main road outside the airport to catch a bus to Ratna Park and then walk or take a rickshaw to Asan.

By Road:

If you're coming from another part of Nepal or from India, buses are commonly used to reach Kathmandu. Once you arrive at the Kathmandu Bus Stand (also known as the New Bus Park or Gongabu Bus Park), you can hire a taxi or utilize local transportation to reach Asan.

Getting to Asan from Kathmandu Bus Stand:

• Taxi: Taxis are readily available at the bus stand and can take you directly to Asan.
• Local Transportation: Microbuses and city buses heading to Kathmandu's city center are options as well. You may need to transfer at Ratna Park and then make your way to Asan.

Within the City:

Asan is centrally located in Kathmandu and is easily reachable from various parts of the city by foot, taxi, rickshaw, or local buses. It's a common landmark for shopkeepers and residents, so finding directions is typically straightforward.

Tips:

Asan Tole, the main street through Asan, can get crowded, especially during festivals and peak shopping hours. Be cautious of pickpockets and keep your belongings secure. Exploring Asan is best done on foot, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

If you’re planning to shop or eat in Asan, carry cash, as many vendors do not accept cards. Additionally, negotiating prices is common practice in these local markets.
