How To Reach Bali (Indonesia) In 2026 - 2027

How to Reach Bali, Indonesia

Bali is a sought-after travel destination known for its picturesque beaches, vibrant culture, and lush landscapes. Located in Indonesia, reaching Bali is a relatively straightforward process for international travelers.

By Air

Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar) is the primary gateway for travelers flying into Bali. It is well-connected with major airports around the world. Here are the common steps you can follow to reach Bali by air:

• Check for direct flights from your home country to Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport (DPS).
• If direct flights are not available, look for connecting flights through major hubs such as Jakarta (Indonesia), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), or Bangkok (Thailand).
• Major airlines serving Bali include Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Cathay Pacific.
• Upon arrival at the airport, you can take a taxi, a rideshare app like Gojek or Grab, or arrange for a hotel shuttle to reach your final destination.

By Sea

Traveling to Bali by sea is another option, though less common for international visitors. Some cruise lines offer trips that include Bali in their itinerary. For those already in Indonesia, ferry services are available from neighboring islands such as Java and Lombok.

• Check with cruise lines for available routes that stop in Bali.
• If you are coming from nearby islands, use the local ferry services.

Land Travel

While Bali is an island, certain methods of land travel can still be part of the journey, especially if you are combining your trip with a visit to other parts of Indonesia like Java.

• If traveling from Java, you can take a bus or drive to the port of Banyuwangi and then take a ferry to the port of Gilimaniguk in Bali.
• Once in Bali, various forms of land transportation are available, including taxis, scooters, and private car hires.

Travel Tips

• Visa Requirements: Check the visa requirements for your nationality. Many countries are eligible for visa on arrival or visa exemption for short-term visits.
• Peak Seasons: If you are traveling during peak seasons (July-August and December-January), it is advisable to book your flights and accommodations well in advance.
• Health Precautions: Depending on where you are traveling from, you may need vaccinations or health checks, so be sure to check the latest health advice.
• Travel Insurance: Consider purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers any unexpected events or emergencies.

With careful planning and consideration of the travel options available, reaching Bali can be a hassle-free experience, allowing you to enjoy all the beauty and culture this unique island has to offer.
