Belur Math is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa. It is situated on the west bank of Hooghly River in Belur, West Bengal. This temple is one of the significant institutions in Kolkata and is renowned for its architecture that fuses Hindu, Christian, and Islamic motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions. The sprawling campus houses temples dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, in which their relics are enshrined. Also, there are monastic quarters, a museum containing artefacts associated with the life of Ramakrishna and his disciples. The peaceful atmosphere of the Math invites people from all walks of life and religions to meditate and learn about the teachings of Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
