Rabindra Sarobar, previously known as Dhakuria Lake, is an artificial lake in South Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Named after the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, this serene expanse is spread over 192 acres and boasts a lush green environment. The lake was created by the Calcutta Improvement Trust in the 1920s to offer open space for recreation and as a water reservoir for South Kolkata. The Sarobar offers a perfect escape from the bustling city life and serves as a hub for morning walkers, nature lovers, and runners. It has a walking track bordering the lake, and rowing facilities are available. Rabindra Sarobar is also an ecological park that's home to several species of birds, butterflies, and fish. The area near the lake has various sporting facilities such as swimming pools, football stadiums, and a cricket ground. The site has been declared as a National Lake and is managed by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. It's an oasis of tranquility and freshness, characterized by lush vegetation, chirping birds, and the gentle ripple of water.
