Bhandasar Jain Temple, noted for its beautiful leaf paintings, fine frescoes, and gold leaf paintings, is one of the oldest temples in Bikaner, Rajasthan, dedicated to the fifth Jain Tirthankara, Sumatinatha. It was constructed in the 15th century by a Jain merchant, Bhandasa Oswal. The temple is a three-storied structure that incorporates red sandstone and white marble. Its stunning art and architecture, with intricate carvings and ornamentation, display the craftsmanship of the time. The interiors are adorned with mirror work, leaf paintings, frescoes, and gold leaf paintings, which illuminate the stories of Jain scriptures. The temple's exquisitely designed floors are believed to be laid with ghee and coconut mixture instead of mortar, which is a testament to the unique construction practices. Visitors are often mesmerized by the temple's quietude and splendor. The temple not only holds religious significance for the Jain community but also attracts art lovers and history buffs.
