The National Research Centre on Camel, situated on the outskirts of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, is a unique and specialized farm dedicated to the study and research of camels. It is popularly known as the 'Camel Research Farm' and spreads over 2000 acres of semi-arid land. The center was established in 1984 by the Government of India under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It serves as an important facility for camel breeding and research, with a primary focus on the conservation and genetic upgradation of camels, particularly the breeds found in India such as the Bikaneri, Jaisalmeri, and Mewari. In addition to research, the centre also offers camel milking demonstrations, a camel museum, and camel rides to visitors, making it a touristic as well as an educational spot. Its efforts also extend into developing camel-related products like milk, leather, and wool which are believed to have therapeutic properties.
