Rampuria Havelis in Bikaner, Rajasthan, stand as a legacy of opulence and a testimonial to the wealthy merchant class's affluence during the 15th century. These grand mansions are renowned for their exquisite architecture and intricately carved facades. The havelis, built by Balujee Chalva, who was considered among the most prosperous merchants of his time, reflect a blend of Victorian and Mughal architectural styles with Rajputana elements. The use of Dulmera red sandstone adds to their allure, as does the fine jharokhas (overhanging enclosed balconies), jaalis (latticed screens), and courtyards that facilitate privacy and ventilation. Each haveli in the cluster was constructed with exceptional attention to detail, featuring grand chambers, beautiful murals, and ornamental wall paintings that depict scenes from Hindu mythology. Though most havelis remain private residences, their architectural significance draws tourists globally who come to Bikaner to walk through the narrow lanes to catch a glimpse of these historic marvels.

A trip through the lanes where time stands still!
Amazing example of Rajasthani architecture, tucked away in the narrow lanes of Bikaner city.
Unfortunate that the Havelis are not open for visits nor being used as a museum, Cafe' or even a heritage ..
