Dharamshala is not only renowned for its picturesque beauty and spiritual significance, but it also offers a delectable array of foods that have evolved over time. Historically, the cuisine of Dharamshala has been influenced by the staple foods of Himachal Pradesh, which predominantly consists of dishes made from rice, wheat, maize, and barley. However, the cultural blend brought by the Tibetan refugees, who settled here in the 1960s when His Holiness the Dalai Lama came to Dharamshala, has substantially influenced the local cuisine. Tibetan culinary traditions like momos and thukpa have become integral to the food landscape of Dharamshala.
