Gulaba is a picturesque spot located on the route to the Rohtang Pass from Manali, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Nestled at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters above sea level, Gulaba is named after Raja Gulab Singh of Kashmir who camped here while invading China. The place is surrounded by snow-draped mountains and lush green meadows, making it a haven for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike. It is less crowded than Rohtang Pass, and thus serves as a tranquil alternative. Owing to its scenic beauty, it often serves as a location for Bollywood film shootings. Gulaba is also a starting point for several trekking expeditions and is famous for activities such as skiing and paragliding. The area is covered in a blanket of snow during winters, offering breathtaking views, and during the summer, the snow melts away, revealing verdant grasslands. The government has developed this area while ensuring the conservation of the local ecosystem, and it serves as a perfect spot for camping and picnics.
