Naggar Castle is a historical edifice located in Naggar, an ancient town in the Kullu district near Manali in Himachal Pradesh, India. It stands as a magnificent example of Himalayan architecture with its unique blend of European and Himalayan wood and stone work. Built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 AD, the castle was converted into a heritage hotel run by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC). This stone and wood structure offers a panoramic view of the Kullu Valley and the distant snow-covered peaks. The castle houses an art museum and also provides lodging facilities. It has survived several earthquakes due to the brilliant use of wood and stone in its construction, which acts as a shock absorber. The castle's architecture with intricately carved wooden doors and windows is a visual delight. The combination of ornate woodwork and medieval stone masonry speaks volumes about the craftsmanship of days bygone.
