Roads leading to Hikkim are clear of snow, making the village accessible for tourists and allowing them to indulge in trekking, postal tourism, and exploring the nearby monasteries and beautiful landscapes. June to September is highly recommended as the entire valley comes alive with vibrant cultural festivals and the famous Spiti Valley landscape is in its full splendor, with clear blue skies and mesmerizing views. It is important to avoid the winter months from November to April when heavy snowfall can result in road closures, isolating the village and making it virtually inaccessible. For the most passionate of winter adventurers, and with proper guidance and equipment, it is possible, but for the average traveler, it is better to visit Hikkim when the environment is more welcoming.
