Suraj Tal, also known as Surya Taal, is a breathtaking high-altitude lake situated in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Nestled at an elevation of about 4,883 meters above sea level, this lake is considered sacred and is revered by many. It is the third-highest lake in India and the 21st-highest in the world. The lake is fed by glacial melt and is located just below the Baralacha Pass, another famous scenic and high-altitude mountain pass on the Manali-Leh highway. The name 'Suraj Tal' translates to 'The Lake of the Sun God', and it is a popular destination for adventurers and nature lovers. The pristine blue water of the lake reflects the spectacular Himalayan skyline. Suraj Tal serves as the starting point for the challenging trek to the Zanskar Valley in Ladakh.
