Best Time to Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square

Visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the heart of Kathmandu Valley, offers a rich experience of Nepal's cultural and historical legacy. The best time to visit Kathmandu Durbar Square is from October to November, right after the monsoon season ends and the weather is clear, offering spectacular views of the Himalayas. During this period, the climate is generally dry and mild, making it ideal for tourists to explore the area comfortably. Moreover, October also coincides with the Dashain Festival, the longest and the most significant festival in Nepal while November hosts the Tihar festival, both providing visitors with a unique opportunity to experience the local culture and festivities in full swing.

Aside from the post-monsoon season, another favorable time to visit the Durbar Square is during the spring months of March to April. The weather during this period is typically warm and pleasant with less chance of rainfall, creating an excellent condition for sightseeing. The blooming flowers, especially the rhododendrons, add to the beauty of the area during spring. It is also the time of year when the Nepalese New Year, known as Bisket Jatra, is celebrated with much pomp and vim, which can add to the cultural experience of any traveller. However, it is worth noting that springtime can get a bit crowded as it is a popular season for tourists.
