By Air

While there is no direct air service to Sigiriya, the closest airport is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. From there, visitors can take a domestic flight to the Sigiriya Air Force Base, which serves as a convenient but less frequent option. Chartered helicopters are also available from Colombo.

By Road

Travelling by road is the most common and accessible way to reach Lion's Paw:

• Private Car or Taxi: Visitors can hire a private car or taxi from Colombo or other major cities. The drive is approximately 4 hours from Colombo, depending on traffic.
• Bus: Regular buses operate from Colombo's Pettah Bus Terminal to Dambulla. From Dambulla, visitors can take a local bus or tuk-tuk to Sigiriya, which is about 17 km away.
• Rented Vehicle: For those preferring a self-drive option, renting a car or a motorbike is a possibility, offering flexibility for stopovers and exploration.

By Train

While there is no direct train service to Sigiriya, the closest major railway station is in Habarana, about 15 km away. From Habarana, visitors can continue by bus, tuk-tuk, or private hire to reach Sigiriya.

Once in Sigiriya, be prepared for a significant amount of walking, including climbing stairs to reach the Lion's Paw before proceeding to the summit of the rock fortress.
