Phool Bagh is a historical garden located in the quaint town of Orchha, within the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. This garden complex serves as a testament to the Bundela Rajput’s flair for aesthetic appeal and sophisticated gardening design. It was originally laid out as a formal garden by the Bundela rulers in the 16th century. Designed as a cool summer retreat for the royalty, it includes a variety of features such as elaborate fountains, a pavilion, and a central lawn with a line of cascading fountains. The pavilion houses an eight-pillared, open hall which was used for relaxation by the Orchha kings. It is said that there is an underground system designed to link the palace complex to the garden, allowing the royalty to reach it without coming above ground. The garden is also home to a memorial built for the Keshri Singh, son of Maharaja Madhukar Shah. Phool Bagh stands out for its greenery, flanked by the grandeur of historical monuments, revealing the intertwining of natural and architectural elegance.
