Pinjore Gardens bears great historical significance; it is believed to have been created in the 17th century during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The garden structure was designed by Fidai Khan, who was the younger brother of the governor of Lahore. It later passed into the hands of the Maharajas of Patiala and was renamed Yadavindra Gardens in honor of Maharaja Yadavindra Singh of the former princely state of Patiala.
