The Purnagiri Temple is a revered Hindu shrine located atop the Purnagiri hill in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand, India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Purnagiri and is one of the 108 Siddha Peethas. The best time to visit the temple is during the annual Purnagiri Fair, which takes place in the month of Chaitra (March-April) according to the Hindu calendar. This fair marks the Chaitra Navratri festival, which lasts for about 40 days, with the last 10 days being the most auspicious and attracting lakhs of devotees. The weather during this period is pleasant, with the transition from winter to spring, making it conducive for the pilgrims to undertake the journey and worship at the temple.
Apart from the religious fair season, the period from October to June is considered ideal for visiting the Purnagiri Temple. Summers (April to June) offer clear skies and comfortable temperatures for traveling, although it might get a bit warm during the day. The monsoon months (July to September) might be less suitable due to heavy rains, which can cause landslides and make the trek to the temple dangerous. Therefore, visitors should aim for the post-monsoon season or the cooler winter months (October to March) for a safer and more enjoyable experience. During these months, the Himalayan scenery is also at its most breathtaking, allowing for a memorable spiritual and visual journey.
