Best Time To Visit Rajgir Ropeway (Chairlift To Shanti Stupa) (Rajgir) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Rajgir Ropeway

The Rajgir Ropeway, which is a chairlift system leading to the serene Shanti Stupa atop Ratnagiri hill, offers visitors a spectacular view of the surrounding hills and verdant forests. To ensure an optimal visiting experience, the best time to visit is between October and March. During these months, the weather in Rajgir is generally cool and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 16 to 28 degrees Celsius. This is ideal for not just the ropeway ride but for exploring the ancient city as well. Summers in Rajgir can be extremely hot with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius, making outdoor activities uncomfortable.

Besides the comfortable weather, visiting Rajgir during this period also coincides with several local festivals and cultural events, such as the Rajgir Mahotsav (Rajgir Dance Festival) usually held in October. However, if you are planning to visit during a festival, it is advisable to book accommodations in advance due to the increase in tourist influx. Furthermore, the ropeway operates between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily, and it's recommended to go early in the morning to avoid long queues and to enjoy a more peaceful ascent. Regardless of the time of your visit, ensure to check for any maintenance schedules or temporary closures of the ropeway that might affect your travel plans.
