Srisailam Dam, located near the town of Srisailam in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India, is constructed across the Krishna River. This concrete gravity dam is one of the largest dams in India and serves as a multipurpose facility intended for hydroelectric power generation, irrigation, and water supply. The dam's scenic surroundings, encompassed by the Nallamala Hills, make it a popular tourist destination. It boasts a natural setting that's enriched by the flourishing fauna and greenery of the adjacent Srisailam wildlife sanctuary. Being a part of the Srisailam Tiger Reserve, the area is an ecological hotspot and offers visitors the chance to experience the biodiversity of the region. The dam is also significant for its proximity to the revered Srisailam Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, making it a site of both natural and spiritual importance. Besides its role in providing water and power, Srisailam Dam also facilitates flood control. The large reservoir created by the dam, called the Srisailam Reservoir, is a sight to behold when the gates are opened during monsoon floods.

Beautiful dam
It is the best when the gates open. In addition to the dam, you can as well enjoy the beautiful views over there. The drive is also great. Also visit the temple when you are here.
