Suraj Tal Lake (Lahaul Valley) Tourism

Suraj Tal, also known as Surya Taal, is a sacred body of water located in the Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. Positioned at an altitude of about 4,883 meters above sea level, it is the third-highest lake in India and the 21st-highest in the world. The name Suraj Tal translates to 'Lake of the Sun God,' and it's believed that taking a dip here cleanses one of their sins. The lake is fed by glaciers and is the source of the Bhaga River, which merges with the Chandra River downstream to form the Chenab River. Suraj Tal offers mesmerizing views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks and barren landscape, which turn incredibly lush during the summer months. It is a significant pit stop for those journeying towards the adventurous Baralacha Pass, as well as for trekkers and bikers seeking the thrill of challenging terrains. Due to its high altitude and difficult accessibility, the lake remains mostly uninhabited, offering an untouched and serene environment ideal for nature lovers and spiritual seekers.
