The confluence of the Chandra and Bhaga rivers, known as Tandi, is a stunningly picturesque site in the Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. This sacred union takes place in the district of Lahaul and Spiti, which is renowned for its rugged terrain and mystical allure. Tandi lies at an altitude of about 2,567 meters above sea level and provides a serene environment against the backdrop of the snow-covered Himalayas. This place holds immense religious significance for the local population as it is believed that the Chandra and Bhaga rivers, personified as the son and daughter of the Moon and the Sun god respectively, decided to meet at this point and form the Chenab river. The landscape surrounding Tandi is characterized by sparse vegetation, rocky outcrops, and wide-open spaces that enhance its raw beauty. Historically, the village is said to be named after Tandi, a demon who meditated here. The confluence is visible from the bridge which is an important link between the Lahaul and Keylong regions.
