Baoli (Queen's Stepwell) Tourism

Baoli, also known as Queen's Stepwell, is an ancient stepwell located in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan, India. It is situated near the Kumbhalgarh Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Baolis were traditionally constructed to store water and provide relief from the arid climate of Rajasthan. The Queen's Stepwell is no exception and displays the typical architecture of stepwells with steps leading down to the water level. Made out of stone, it possesses carvings and designs that reflect the rich history and culture of the time. Stepwells like these were not just sources of water but also served as social, cultural, and religious centers where people gathered. This stepwell, in particular, is believed to have been built by a queen, hence the name — it's a testament to the influential roles played by women in the region's history.
