Big Foot Cross Museum, also known as Ancestral Goa, is located in the small village of Loutolim in South Goa, India. Its main attraction is the laterite sculpture of Sant Mirabai, the largest laterite sculpture in India. The museum offers a glimpse of Goa’s rural life and ancient traditions as it showcases traditional Goan art, culture, and architecture on a sprawling and beautifully landscaped 9-acre area. The museum consists of various sections depicting Goan artifacts, a traditional organic farm, a spice garden, and a bird habitat. Visitors can see a replica of a Goan rural village with miniature houses, demonstrating the traditional occupation and social classes that existed a century ago. Big Foot Cross Museum aims to preserve the culture and environment of Goa by providing insights into the past way of life. This open-air museum is a brainchild of artist Maendra Jocelino Araujo Alvares and was established to promote local artisans and preserve the Goan culture.
