Chaumukha Temple, also known as the Adinath Temple, is a revered Jain shrine situated atop Shatrunjaya hill in Palitana, a city in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, India. The temple is dedicated to Adinath, the first Tirthankara of Jainism. It is known for its exquisite architecture and intricate carvings, which exemplify the splendor of Jain artistic heritage. This four-faced temple, hence the name 'Chaumukha,' (meaning four faces), symbolizes the Tirthankara's quest for the four cardinal truths. Pilgrims and tourists often climb approximately 3500 steps to reach this sanctuary of peace, passing by numerous other temples along the path in an area that's considered to be the most sacred pilgrimage site in the Jain religion. The serene surroundings and beautiful landscapes offer a spiritually uplifting experience. The temple, with its multiple spires, is an architectural marvel in marble, a material that's been extensively used throughout. The Chaumukha Temple commands a panoramic view of the Gulf of Cambay and the surrounding countryside.
