Clock Tower, also known as Ghanta Ghar, is an iconic landmark situated in the heart of Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, India. It is a hexagonal tower with a gold-colored clock installed on each of its faces, so that time can be seen from any part of the city center. This clock tower is not only a historical structure but also an important part of the city's social life as it is surrounded by the bustling commercial centers. Over the years, the Clock Tower has witnessed significant urban transformations and continues to stand as a symbol of the city's colonial past and its modern progression. The Clock Tower is encircled by the main commercial hubs like Paltan Bazaar, Rajpur Road and Chakrata Road, making it a busy thoroughfare. Inaugurated by the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Sarojini Naidu, the clock tower has a unique design and holds historical significance. Although the clock is not functional anymore, plans have been made to restore it. The Tower, with its magnificent presence, still continues to be a focal point for many cultural activities and a popular meeting point for locals.
