Tapkeshwar Mahadev Tourism

Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, located in the Garhi Cantt area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated along the banks of the seasonal Asan River, in a cave surrounded by the beautiful hills of the Dehradun valley. A unique feature of the temple is the natural Shivling that stands there, which is constantly showered upon by water droplets dripping from the cave's ceiling, providing a mystical and serene ambiance. Tapkeshwar Mahadev is not only a place of worship but also a destination for people seeking peace and natural beauty. The temple is closely associated with the Mahabharata as it is believed that Guru Dronacharya, the royal guru to the Kauravas and Pandavas, resided here, and it is here that his son Ashwatthama was born. The cool springs around the temple add to its serenity and piety, making it a popular destination for pilgrims and travellers alike. Festivals such as Shivaratri are celebrated with great fervour here.
