Rajaji National Park, located near Dehradun in Uttarakhand, India, is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. Spread over 820 square kilometers, it encompasses the Shivalik range and is rich in biodiversity. Established in 1983, the park is named after C. Rajagopalachari (Rajaji), a prominent freedom fighter and the first Governor-General of India. The park's topography is diverse with riverine beds, dense green forests, and rolling hills. It serves as a habitat for numerous animal species including Asian elephants, tigers, leopards, and several deer species. The park is also renowned for its bird population, with over 400 species documented, making it an ornithological paradise. Flora in the park includes broadleaved deciduous forests, scrubland, and grassy meadows, which host a plethora of plant species. The Ganges flows through a part of the park, adding a dynamic aquatic dimension to the ecosystem. The park is a critical part of the larger Corbett-Rajaji landscape, which is significant for tiger conservation.
