Galtaji Temple, often referred to as the Monkey Temple, is an ancient pilgrimage site situated in the town of Khania-Balaji, about 10 kilometers away from Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. This prehistoric Hindu pilgrimage site is ensconced amidst the hills of the Aravalli Range. It is renowned for its natural freshwater springs and sacred kunds (water tanks) in which pilgrims bathe. The temple complex is made up of various shrines, pavilions, holy kunds, and natural rock formations. It is built within a mountain pass and is also famous for the large tribe of monkeys that inhabit the area, which is why it is popularly known as the Monkey Temple. The site comprises pink sandstone and features a unique architectural style that blends natural features with traditional Rajasthani architecture. The main temple is devoted to the Hindu Sun God, Surya, and it is said that Saint Galav spent his life here, performing penance.
