The Albert Hall Museum, located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. It was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and commissioned in 1876 during the visit of the Prince of Wales, Albert Edward, to India. Its purpose was to be a town hall, but it was later turned into a museum. It is the oldest museum in the state and functions as the State museum of Rajasthan. The museum has a rich collection of artifacts including paintings, jewelry, carpets, ivory, stone, metal sculptures, and works in crystal. Its galleries are adorned with murals that include themes from Indian mythology. The building itself is a work of art, made of sandstone and is surrounded by well-kept gardens. Inside, a courtyard features an Egyptian mummy that is a major attraction. The museum provides insights into the history, art, and culture of Rajasthan through its extensive collection. Even at night, the museum is beautifully lit, emphasizing its grand architecture.
