The Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, located in Jaipur, is an iconic monument of Rajput architecture built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad and is part of the City Palace, extending to the zenana or women's chambers. The five-story facade with its intricate latticework of 953 small windows called Jharokhas is made of pink and red sandstone, allowing royal ladies to observe the street festivities while remaining unseen from the outside. The palace's unique design was also functional as it provided natural ventilation, keeping the interior cool in the hot desert climate. Despite its size, the palace is more of a facade and does not have much interior space. The top offers panoramic views of the city and the bustling bazaar below. The blend of Hindu Rajput architecture with Islamic Mughal architecture makes the Hawa Mahal a unique building that is today one of the most recognizable and frequently visited tourist attractions in Jaipur.

Picture perfect
Hawa mahal is good to view from outside. The architecture is beautiful and the history associated with it. Not recommended during peak times as it falls in old jaipur and is extremely crowded.

Stunning from the outside especially at night. Many people said to me not to go inside but I am glad I didn't listen and went. So nice. Worth paying the small fee to explore the interior. Very bus..
