The City Palace is a historic palace complex situated in the heart of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, reflecting the fusion of Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural styles. Constructed during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who founded Jaipur in 1727, it has been the administrative and ceremonial seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The palace complex comprises several buildings, including Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal, along with various courtyards, gardens, and museums. Chandra Mahal, with its commanding views, is still a royal residence, but several rooms are open to the public as part of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, displaying carpets, manuscripts, and other historical artifacts. With its elaborate decoration, the Peacock Gate is a notable feature within the palace, as are the intricately designed chambers such as the Diwan-i-Khas. The City Palace's rich history and stunning artistry make it an essential symbol of Jaipur's royal heritage.
