Amer Fort, also referred to as Amber Fort, is located in Amer town roughly 11 kilometers from Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, India. This majestic fort is situated on a hill and is a prominent tourist attraction for its artistic Hindu-style elements. Built by Raja Man Singh I in the late 16th century, Amer Fort is made of red sandstone and marble and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with five other forts under the group 'Hill Forts of Rajasthan'. It overlooks Maota Lake and is known for its aesthetic ambiance, comprising a series of gates, cobbled paths, and large ramparts. The fort is a perfect blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Key features include the Diwan-e-Aam, 'Hall of Public Audience', the Sheesh Mahal, or 'Palace of Mirrors', and the Sukh Niwas, where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace.
