Best Time To Visit Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Hanuman Dhoka, Kathmandu, Nepal

The ideal time to visit Hanuman Dhoka, the historic royal palace complex in the heart of Kathmandu, is during the autumn months, specifically from September to November. This period is marked by clear blue skies, pleasant temperatures, and minimal rainfall, which ensures that you can explore the intricate courtyards, temples, and museums comfortably. The weather during this time is conducive for sightseeing with warm days and cool nights. Moreover, the visibility is excellent, allowing for breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges, which form an imposing backdrop to this ancient palace complex.

Additionally, the autumn season aligns with some of the most vibrant festivals in Nepal, like Dashain and Tihar, which may provide travelers with a unique insight into the local culture and traditions. During your visit in these months, you're more likely to witness traditional practices, rituals, and celebrations that take place within the Hanuman Dhoka premises. Please note, however, that these are also peak tourist months, so expect more crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodation. If you wish to avoid crowds, another good time to visit is during the spring months of February to April, when temperatures are moderate, and the landscape is colored with blooming flowers, although the clarity of the skies might not be as perfect as in the autumn.
