Jai Vilas Palace, also known as the Jai Vilas Mahal, is situated in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. This opulent palace was built by Maharaja Jayaji Rao Scindia in 1874 and is a fine example of European architecture, primarily combining Tuscan, Italian-Doric, and Corinthian styles. Spread over an area of 75 acres, the palace showcases an impressive blend of Indian and European art and architecture. The imposing structure and intricate design make it a significant historical landmark. The grand durbar hall with gilt furnishings, expansive carpets, and a huge pair of chandeliers is a prime attraction. A part of the Jai Vilas Palace has been converted into a museum that offers insights into the rich history of the Scindia dynasty, displaying royal memorabilia, including swords, manuscripts, and other artifacts from different periods of Indian history.
